As you would imagine, the wonderfully thick double coat of a Chow Chow requires expert attention to keep it healthy and striking.  Because this breed sheds, you will need a routine to keep the excess hair at bay and a way to vacuum the copious hair that might have escaped your attention.  Here are some tips to help you manage Chow Chow grooming.

The American Kennel Club estimates that you will probably need to allocate a couple of hours each week to keep the Chow Chow coat in check. And this time could well be taken up with the task of brushing alone.

And of course like all dogs, the nails need to be clipped on a regular basis. Needless to say, the other routine tasks should be slotted into your routine as well; tasks such as checking ears for wax and cleaning teeth as best you can.
